Umahi Woos Investors to Ebonyi

Ebonyi State Governor, Engr David Umahi of Ebonyi State has appealed to Nigerian Investors to take advantage of the conducive economic opportunities provided by his administration to invest in the State.

The governor also appealed to enterpreneurs of Igbo extraction to bring some of their investments home to assist government in developing Southeast region.

Umahi made the appealon Tuesday during a summit organized by Ebonyi Business Forum at the Christian Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki.

The summit attracted the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwido; the President of Silverbird group, Senator Guy Murray-Bruce;

He commended some Igbo businessmen in Lagos who had indicated interest to do their businesses in Ebonyi State, adding that his administration has reduced the prices of shops in the new shopping mall in order to assist those interested in it.

Umahi said. “These people have demonstrated the Igbo spirit to have come back home to invest.”

“We have offered to provide every assistance to them. We have reduced the prices at the mall due to their interest. We have exposed our clusters to them, and to build their estate. The biggest edifice at the centenary city, we have reserved it for Silicon University which is compliant to their vision. The international market has been made international and we are happy they are part of it,” Umahi added.

The Governor said Ebonyi was badly neglected which was why his administration had decided to embark on projects that could hardly be seen elsewhere.

“We have been badly neglected and decided to do things that can hardly be seen elsewhere”, he said.

He said the achievements of his administration so far were made possible due to the collective efforts of partners.

“There is no body who has not paid a price for these achievements. I thank God who has called all of us as partners in this project. No permanent enemy or friend, but permanent eye on the treasury,” he explained.

The Chief Executive Officers of Business Conglomerates who attended the summit lauded Governor Umahi for his infrastructural strides in the State.

They however bared their minds in their separate speeches.

Senator Bruce said: “it is my first time in Ebonyi State. “Ebonyi shopping mall is the best in Africa”.

HRM Prof. Igwe Achebe, Obi of Onitsha said: “I am pleased with what is happening in Ebonyi and that’s why I went through the stress of going back to Anambra yesterday from Ebonyi and coming back today”.

On his part, the President, Nidgbo Lagos Foundation, Major Gen. Obi Umahi (rtd) said: “When you come to Ebonyi you see physical structures everywhere, there are revealing but there are things more revealing that is not as visible as the Infrastrures and that is Human Capital Development which is better than what it is anywhere else in Nigeria”

The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nwodo said: “I am aware that Ebonyi receives the lowest allocation and I am sure that the Internally generated revenue will as well be very low, yet I have not seen the degree of Infrastructure Umahi has built in Ebonyi anywhere else in the Country. Talking about the State of Arts Ecumenical Centre built by Gov. Umahi, I have not seen this kind of building anywhere else”

Also, Prince Tony Nweze of Computer Village Lagos said: “what is happening in Ebonyi State now is like what is happening in China. In China, the Infrastructure you see today, in a week’s time you see a nighter one capable of making one miss his way”.
