Political ambitions are no crimes but “those who go to equity must approach it with clean hands”.
The struggle to occupy the number one position in Ebonyi has started with many political desperados struggling to grab the positions not to consolidate on the good works of the incumbent Governor of Ebonyi, Engr. (Dr.) David Nweze Umahi who has within a space of five years taken Ebonyi to the ‘Canan land’ but for their personal aggrandizement.
It is more worrisome the fact that most of those jostling for this position are those whose antecedents we already know, those who would shamelessly share a carton of noodles and five (5) sachets of 5kg rice only per political ward as constituency projects, at a time other elected political office holders of equal rank from other states are attracting quality roads and other projects.
More painful is the fact that some of these desperados are taking the electorates for fools by starting now to make ‘visible’ efforts to becoming the next Governor at a time they should be paying the electorates back for voting them in.
Ebonyi and her citizens have in no small measure enjoyed quality empowerment programmes courtesy of our wonder working Governor, His Excellency, Engr. (Dr.) David Nweze Umahi which has made it a source of ridicule anytime anyone claims to be assisting the poor below the Umahi standard.
“Men examine yourself” was the wise counsel of Socrates of the blessed memory, thus compelling me to advice that anyone wishing to succeed Umahi should self examine himself to avoid the huge shame that will befall such person when Ebonyians will turn their back against them because we can’t afford go back to Egypt.
